Ingredients:

  • 1 cup xylitol or erythritol (ensure it's a fine granular form for better dissolution)
  • 1 cup water
  • 1-2 teaspoons Colour Nature powder (choose your desired color)
  • Optional: natural flavor extracts (like vanilla, almond, lemon, etc.) for additional flavoring

Equipment:

  • Medium saucepan
  • Whisk
  • Measuring cups and spoons
  • Fine mesh strainer (if needed)
  • Glass bottle or jar for storage

Directions:

  1. Dissolve the Sweetener:

    • In a medium saucepan, combine the xylitol or erythritol with water. Heat over medium heat, stirring constantly until the sweetener is completely dissolved. Be cautious as xylitol and erythritol can recrystallize easily compared to sugar.
  2. Add Colour Nature Powder:

    • Reduce the heat to low. Gradually whisk in the Colour Nature powder until fully integrated and the desired color intensity is achieved.
  3. Add Optional Flavorings:

    • If using flavor extracts, stir them into the mixture once the color is fully dispersed.
  4. Simmer and Strain:

    • Allow the mixture to gently simmer for about 5 minutes to ensure full flavor and color infusion. Remove from heat. If there are any undissolved particles, strain the syrup through a fine mesh strainer.
  5. Cool and Store:

    • Let the syrup cool to room temperature. Then, transfer it to a glass bottle or jar for storage.
  6. Refrigeration:

    • Store the syrup in the refrigerator. Since it's sugar-free, it might crystallize over time. Gently warming it before use can help if this occurs.

Usage Tips:

  • This sugar-free syrup is perfect for coloring and sweetening beverages without the added calories of sugar.
  • Ideal for those on keto diets, diabetics, or anyone looking to reduce sugar intake.
  • Can also be used as a topping for sugar-free desserts or in baking recipes.
