Encourage creativity and safe play with our Edible Finger Paints.
Using our natural colouring powders, these paints are perfect for little artists to explore colors and textures, and they're completely safe if little fingers end up in little mouths.
Ingredients:
- 2 cups cornstarch
- 1 cup cold water
- 4 cups boiling water
- Colour Nature powders in various colors
- Small jars or containers for storing the paints
Equipment:
- Mixing bowls
- Whisk or spoon
- Measuring cups
Directions:
-
Prepare the Base Mixture:
- In a large bowl, dissolve the cornstarch in 1 cup of cold water. Ensure there are no lumps.
- In a separate pot, boil 4 cups of water.
-
Combine and Cook:
- Gradually add the boiling water to the cornstarch mixture while continuously stirring. The mixture will start to thicken quickly.
- If possible, cook this mixture over low heat for a few minutes while stirring to ensure a smooth and thick consistency.
-
Cooling Down:
- Remove the mixture from the heat and allow it to cool down to a safe temperature. It should be warm but not hot to the touch.
-
Adding Color:
- Divide the base paint mixture into several small jars or containers, depending on how many colors you want to create.
- Stir in a different Colour Nature powder into each container. Add enough powder to reach the desired color intensity. Remember that the colors might appear lighter when they dry.
-
Storage:
- The paints can be used immediately or stored in the refrigerator for up to a week. Ensure the containers are tightly sealed to prevent the paints from drying out.
